Maybe the lights befuddled all the Hashers who are more used to groping around in the dark but I have seldom seen such a subdued mob, enlivened only by Mr S***hole's occasional bawdy interjections and kicking apart of the tidy sacks of cans neatly deposited in the centre of the smart black and white checkerboard floor which I was using to play a mental game of draughts to keep me awake. Certainly the GM was more than half asleep as he wandered aimlessly around. He eventually remembered to drag in Hot Safari to remind everyone to pay up for the AGPU on Sat 21 Feb -Tsh15,000 or 35,000 depending on how many Hashes you have attended. CampBed exhorted all those not receiving Hash missives to supply their email address. Sexuella was the only one brave enough to admit she wasn't getting any. Next week's Hash will be at Hot Safari & Stiff Cocktail's house opposite Sea Cliff Court Luxury Apartments. Mr S***hole and HorniGoat asked to give their verdicts on the walk and run could both only come up with "excellent" - Huh?!? Where has all the fabled Hash wit and repartee gone? I can report that the walkers were somewhat bemused by being made to stand at silent attention outside the gates of the Yacht Club as the Tanzanian flag was solemly lowered while someone at the back of the crowd was heard to mutter "I can get my b***dy spinnaker down faster than that!" Thankfully the task was complete by the time the runners crashed into the throng and we were all allowed through the hallowed premises, along the beach and up amongst Radar Recruitment's herbaceous borders. Some thought must have gone into the relative routes of the run and walk as we kept encountering each other. Our Religious Advisor also seemed to be anxious to get through his proceedings with minimal fuss. Paul and Oscar were dutifully punished for being Forgetful B*****ds and Dogs Bollocks, Mr S******, and HorniGoat were DownDowned for being SCBs. Returnees rewarded with Warm Safaris included the RA, Mr S (again!), ServiceMe, Ribbed for Pleasure, Slappa, Lynette and DogsBollocks. Delicious Atholl Brose was awarded to Boogie Boobs, KlingOn, Prawn & LateCummer yet again for their efforts on Bongoyo. There were three Virigins: Sven from Norway; Cameron from England; and Sophie (on holiday with KlingOn); who most unimaginatively could only come up with missionary sexual positions. Wet Dream blundered back into the Circle to punish Slappa and Close Encounter for being late comers and to celebrate their now being queerly associated every working day. The GM himself nominated Hot Safari as Hashit for forgetting his Hash moniker and although CandyBlower was dragged in for some reason I can't recall, it was no contest and the assembled multitude dutifully seranaded her with the Hot Safari song followed by a more spirited rendition of Swing Low Sweet Chariot to finish. This week there was ample nosh washed down by some evil throat-scorching Chinese wine(!?) pressed on to everyone by CandyBlower & CandyMan. A more nutritious Scottish brew was offered as just desserts with ExtraTesticular clamoring for more. On On Panty Pockets -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The paper was a bit thin on the ground and there was some iffy marks at the corners, but these are peccadilloes (you didn't see the peccadilloes ?!! - they are often strutting about on Toure Drive at dusk) that don't mount up to a hill of beans. Good to see Slappa up front again, though I am sure she would go faster if she didn't have such a girly running style. Any road, lets get onto the really exciting bit: - the announcements. Hot Safari was trailing the AGPU, which will be on Saturday 21st Feb at Thai Chi Village. Panty Pockets was extolling the terpsichorean delights on offer on the roof of the Irish Pub on Wednesday nights - otherwise known as Scotty Dancing. It was an easy link from there to giving Scotty a horizontal down down - Slappa did it; she's got good at it; she's done it before; many times; that's why she's called Slappa. And next week's Hash will be at St. Knickerless's Grotto. The RA - Candyman - said that he had been told on good authority that the Danish Government is about to introduce a tax on animals and hashers (which is much the same thing) FARTING. So all the Danes and notorious farters, including PIA, Hornigoat, Gay Haggis, Flatulence and Rippa were called forth to be punished in the time-honoured way. St Knickerless was similarly honoured for entrapping a man, and, in the absence of the real thing, she chose Scotty, Mr S***hole, and Flatulence as stand-ins. Harriettes - can you imagine sharing the bridal bed with those three on your wedding night??? - don't lets go there, it doesn't bare thinking about. Talking of virgins, they were few on the ground, and they all had uninteresting FSPs - Nuff said. My thoughts were turning to chapattis when suddenly, out of nowhere, Close Encounters threw a full bottle of water straight at Mr S***hole, injuring him grievously. Now, few hashers can claim not to have strong feelings about Mr S***hole, but please, be fair, if you are going to throw things at him, throw something that he can use - like alcohol. Why did she do this? Was she having a PMT day? or had a rush of blood to the head? or just been driven to madness after a days work at DFID? I suspect we will never know. After all the excitement the Hashit ceremony was a bit of a lame affair. Candidates included Hot Safari for not wearing the gear on the walk, Rippa for making false accusations about the aforesaid, Mr Cida for cannoodling, Muff-Diver M.D. for not being able to count - but there was never any doubt that Close Encounters would walk away with the big prize - which she did. The Circle ended with SLSC. On On BoB -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... As NiteRider was heard to say "If that was 5 kilometre he must have measured it with his *ick." But all credit to the Paddybrats for making it unsquashed to the beer stop - as well as Close Encounters for running in full Hashit regalia. Hot Safari updated us on the AGPU (Annual General Piss-Up) that will be held this Saturday - the 21st at Thai Village. Come dressed as a Dick-Head and your ticket price will be refunded. Next Weeks Hash will be whipped into shape by Dominatrix at the IST campus on UN Road, Upanga. The Grand Master Elect - CampBed - likes it short (and to be honest, so do most of us) so he quickly handed over to The Religious Advisor. Candyman, for he it was, felt it necessary to explain why he looked more like a complete prat than usual - in pedal pushers and black office shoes. Apparently it was all the fault of his dresser, who he relies on for everything, including getting him up in the morning. Hornigoat complained about Rippa dropping his trousers in the street, and then trying to run her over (how could he run her over with his trousers around his ankles? - methinks she doth protest too much). Camp Lejeune's finest still don't know how to drink their down downs, so the RA ordered - Lindy, lets call her - to administer a horizontal down down to her brother officer. She refused of course because her new boss says that horizontal downs downs are torture, so she gave it him while he was on his knees. Are you still with me? When asked about her FSP one Virgin had the wit to tell the RA that once she found out she would let him know. There was a veritable cornucopia of candidates for the Hashit, including Candyman and his dresser, RippaStrippa, Begging For It, and a be-visored Marine. The dubious honour went to Candyman and his dresser. And the Circle ended in the traditional way. On On BoB -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... My company, Worldahead Africa, is looking for a consultant who can fit as indicated hereunder. The consultant will work under the Worldahead brand. Thanks for your assistance. Wambugu Wa Gichohi (Tiny Sausage) The UNCT for Somalia has agreed to do a mid-term evaluation of the UNTP. We are looking for either a team of 2 consultants or a firm that could do the evaluation beginning in early or mid-April. We are currently finalizing the TOR, and expect a timeframe of about one month. In the meantime, we were wondering if you may be able to recommend someone (around P4 level) who may have done an evaluation of a UN pilot or a UN transition planning framework. He/She would be working as the second expert together with the lead consultant (at P5 level) who we want to be from a more mixed or non-UN background with experience in similar country situations. We expect that the One UN (or transition planning) consultant would spend about 2 weeks in Nairobi, mainly engaging with UN, donors and other partners, whereas the Lead Consultant would travel briefly to Somalia (Hargeisa, Somaliland most likely) to meet government counterparts. They could then spend 2 weeks writing up the evaluation from their respective homes. The evaluation would primarily look at the usefulness, effectiveness and value-added of the UNTP, as both a process for coordination/coherence, and a tool for strategic planning / programme implementation, and to identify whether or not are achieving our intended results. In addition, we expect the evaluation to come up with recommendations for the UNTP mid-term revision that we are planning to do in the summer. Please advise if you have anyone in mind or suggestions for who we could contact. The RC's Office will coordinate the evaluation with the Joint M&E Team (which I am chairing), and it will be funded by the UNCT on a cost-shared basis. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: lmg at bol.co.tz To: ; Date: Wed, 11 Feb 2009 07:34:08 +0300 Subject: Re: [DarHHH] ADVERT FOR ELAINES CAR Hi Hashers A car for sale. We have thought carefully before sending this message to you, and realise that some may accuse us of scare mongering, or xenophobia. We stress that not all Chinese and other Asian nationalities indulge in this practice and we do not wish to cause offence, but feel we have an obligation to warn animal owners of this potential threat to their pets. We would rather that you are made aware of the situation and then decide if you want to take precautions. We are relying on what others have told us, however, the frequency of reported cases and the diversity of people telling us about cases over a period of two years leads us to the distressing conclusion that: ? Dogs and cats are being eaten in Dar es Salaam ? In some cases these animals are stolen from residences, or house staff / askaris are paid for a pet to 'disappear' from their owner's home. Some examples provided to Dar Animal Haven are: - Whilst rescuing abandoned kittens in a box, DAH was told that the Chinese had refused to buy the kittens because they were too small to eat - A houseboy was offered a substantial amount of money (over Tshs 100,000) by a Chinese gentleman for his boss's dog while he was out walking the dog. The man said "We like to eat dogs." - A woman rescued her stolen pet cat, which was wearing a collar at the time, from a cage crammed with cats at a Chinese man's home. The Chinese man was paying local children Tshs 10,000 per live cat brought to him. - We have been advised that stolen dogs are sold for dog meat on Ali Hassan Mwinyi Road, at corner to Hubert Kairuki Hospital, near the daladala stand. There is a preference for eating animals that have been owned, as the animal would be less likely to be suffering from disease or parasites. - We have received several complaints about the unnatural and distressed howling of dogs late at night at some Chinese residential compounds and from the premises of a Chinese restaurant. We recommend that you: - Take care that your animals are kept in a secure environment and keep your cat indoors at night; - Warn your staff of the consequences should your pet go missing; - If you pet goes missing then act quickly ? put up posters, advertise a reward, search your local area, contact the veterinarians and advise Dar Animal Haven ? we will help to spread the word about your missing pet. - If you see a healthy dog /cat on the street that looks in too good condition to be permanently living on the street then call Dar Animal Haven; it may be somebody's lost pet. If you have evidence of dog and cat theft and consumption in Dar es Salaam we would appreciate receiving this information as we are compiling a case file. The practice of eating dog and cat meat is an accepted tradition in some countries and should be respected, however abhorrent it may seem to some animal lovers. Yet, we totallly oppose the inhumane methods of keeping and slaughtering these animals. These practices are barbaric. SPECIAL AWARD TROPHIES 12. RIDE OVER COURSE ON SATURDAY 13. SPECIAL LUNCHEON AT LUTHERAN RESORT - SATURDAY 14. SPECIAL RECOGNITION FOR BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARIES, GRADUATIONS, ETC. CAKE THE SHAPE OF MT KILIMANJARO AND GIFT The MT INN was built by Harshit Shah and is a delightful place to stay. It resembles a motel setting with two rooms together in a garden setting. It has only single beds and a very large bathrooms with showers and HOT water. There are two eating areas. One outside in a lovely garden with a circular bar adjourning the eating area. The other dinning room is a large room near the entrance of the hotel. You will enjoy staying there. The MT Kilimanjaro Marathon in Moshi is a fun run. I do not allow any professional runners to participate. It is won every year by an amateur,... a teacher,a plumber, a lawyer, an electrician, etc. Some one who has to work for a living and still runs. That takes discipline. I admire the amateur runner so much. I can't believe that they can keep running. It was marked in a very feminine way with extremely small but precise blobs of paper. Hornygoat was overheard to criticise the form of one particular marking, which I thought was a bit rich coming from someone who has never marked a trail in her long Hash life. But it was a good hard run, as one would expect from a Dominatrix, and very disorientating, with every street looking much like another. Hornygoat finished the run smelling of lilac, and looking as though butter wouldn't melt between her thighs - how does she do it? The brand spanking new Grand Master, CampBed, announced a mishmanagement meeting ("Yes we can") sometime next week. FlappyPussy spake forth on the re-erection of the Marines Movie Nite on Thursday (did he say there would be free beer?) which will be attended by lots of nice sailor boys. And on Friday afternoon there will be a barbeque attended by even more nice sailor boys - Panty Pockets is up for it anyway. The new Trailmaster (Rippa) couldn't remember where next weeks Hash will be, despite being told only 5 minutes earlier. Candyman (RA) kicked off his slot by lamenting that the AGPU had been a complete success, and then bringing into the Circle those responsible:------Hot Safari, Stiff Cocktail, Nico and Annette. He proceeded to award some extra prizes, including one to the person whose costume best reflected his true self, which of course went to Wet Dream who came as a Dick Head, and one to the person with the most obscure costume, which went to Bagobones who came as Dermatitis (or should that be Dermatightarse?). The Virgins were called forth to be interrogated / humiliated, and were told to speak slowly and clearly out of consideration for the Marines. "Reverse cowgirl" cropped up again as an FSP - your scribe still can't get his head round that one, and then suddenly it was Hashit time. Under normal circumstances a BeerMaster who failed to get the beer to the Beer Stop would be a no-brainer for Hashit, but the GM had bigger fish to fry. By popular acclaim the Hashit was awarded to the ex-GM, Wet Dream, for years of tyrannical, diabolical, and shambolical rule. I still can't quite believe that he has finally been deposed after all those years when we begged and pleaded with him to put the interests of the Hash first and stand down. A new dawn awaits the Dar Hash House Harriers, and what better way to welcome it than by a spirited rendering of "Swing low sweet chariot" followed by chapattis and curried dog.
