Hope it reaches you. 2 Hash Trashes 1262 & 1263. Pat HASH TRASH Run No. 1262 23 June 2008 Venue: Lord Whore Whore's stately home, Msasani Peninsula Hares: Lord Whore Whore, Candyman, Candyblower One might have expected a load of bullshit from a hasher named Lord Whore Whore, but he did us proud. Set a fine, well-marked, well-paced run, and at every check he regaled hashers with a brief account of local places of interest (mostly knocking shops). The walky-talkies got a good workout too, I'm told. Not content with setting a good trail, he, or more likely his retinue of servants, produced a meal that fed 50 instead of the planned-for 30. Well done m'lord. Wet Dream got the Circle underway in his inimitable style, but I could tell his heart and mind were elsewhere. There was a parade of "dizzy, blonde women" that included: Close Encounters for phoning the GM no less than three times to get directions to the Hash; Candyblower for losing her camera at the beach, Upskirts for failing to live up to her promise to the GM, and Sweaty Betty for predicting a no-sweat run. When will they ever learn. The Religious Advisor, the very irreverant Nasty Pasty, took over, and you could tell she was in a foul foul mood. Were the Hashers suitably cowed? - not a bit of it. They chatted amongst each other, and interrupted and arsed about like the immature, sad bastards that most of them are. Even the introduction of a second RA - Candyman - and the use of a "Naughty Step" failed to bring about any semblance of order, coherence, and erudition. These two RA are democratically elected officers of the Hash and so have a mandate to extract the urine from one and all; they have sacrificed their lives, careers, marriages, and good drinking time to serve the Hash - so the least hashers can do is SHUT THE F**K UP while they are performing. Four Virgins trooped out bashfully into the Circle - one was from South Carolina (but we shouldn't hold that against her) and another said he was an entrepreneur - or was that his favourite sexual position? Hashers voted to name our beerman for the night "Ribbed For Pleasure" on account of his broken (sorry, cracked) ribs, and Tara named herself "Octopussy" (since when have we allowed Hashers to choose their own names?). The Hashit went to HeadGasket as punishment for his constant chattering and interruptions. The Circle ended with a Negro Spiritual accompanied by very secular gestures. By the way, have you noticed that Mr F****ing Nobody always comes early? OnOn BoB HASH TRASH Run No. 1263 30 June 2008 Venue: CampBed's campsite & Spit and Swallow's spitoon Hares: Mr F***ing Nobody, CampBed Mr F***ing Nobody was so fired up with tosstesterone that he shot off early, leaving Wet Dream, Nutkin and Tiny Sausage feeling Unsatisfied and distinctly Grumpy. The rest of us enjoyed a fine, well-marked and uneventful run. Mr Bumtitty had the nerve to pronounce it "too easy". Thats asking for trouble. The GM - our own, very-much-loved, Wet Dream, got the Circle underway by announcing the usual announcements (when isn't there a Mishmanagement meeting on a thursday night at oooooooooooor hoose?). He brought Chickenshit into the Circle for asking him to speed up a bit (the nerve of that woman!!) 'cos she was hungry. On being asked to call in others who looked as though they needed a square meal, she of course selected Gay Haggis and Ribbed for Pleasure. I kept thinking how just one of those guys would keep Ethiopia in food for a week. Moving on quickly now to the Religious Advisor (CandyMan) - who hauled in several Fernando Torres look-alikes (HeadGasket?? HorniGoat??) to celebrate Spain's victory over Germany. Hashy Birthday was sung in honour of Shaun (as he was then known) Panty Pockets and Bumtitty. There were Seven Vestal Virgins, one of whom was Roger the Cabin Boy (grow up there at the back please). And then Shaun was given the hash name of Flatulence (what was wrong with "Mr Fart"?) on account of his gassy endeavours. There was keen competition for the Hashit: - Slippery when Wet for crawling to the Hares in order to get a T-shirt before everyone else, Mr F****ing Nobody for jumping the gun, and Swooping Tiger for keeping his wife in purdah (or was it a Nissan Terrano?). When called on to vote there were huge cheers for Mr F***ing Nobody - all of them from UpSkirts. So, Swooping Tiger got it, and was clearly not thrilled. The Circle ended with a song first sung by African-Americans in a Mississippi slave plantation in the early 1800s - a tenuous link to the Fourth of July which the Hash was meant to celebrate but the GM and RA had forgotten. Beware Shoppers shopping at Shoprite - Kamata Branch I am a regular shopper shopping at various supermarkets and chains of stores on weekends with my family. On 29th June 2008 I went for shopping at Shoprite which is next to kamata (on Pugu road) parking my vehicle in the shoprite compound as I normally do outside all supermarkets and reputable stores; I went in for shopping. at 3:45pm knowing the fact that at 4pm they close the supermarket. On my way out I read a sign saying that all purchases above Tshs 20,000/- qualify for a free 1.5 litre of Dasani water and I got my free bottle from their duty manager Ms. Zakia. coming out of the supermarket I noticed that my vehicle Vitara's doors were open and all power windows from all the doors stolen including a jack and central locking system was tempered. Before I explain further be informed that:- 1) As it was a Sunday and the closing hours were approaching closer there were only about 4 cars parked outside when I entered the supermarket. 2) When I came out there were 2 cars including mine I called the watchman on duty and he was trying to ignore the matter and push it away by saying that they are not there for our vehicles security but only for securing Shoprite. I called the management and called a police defender which came and the conclusion made was that either shoprite or the Security company to compensate me. The managers Mr. Suleiman Sadik and Ms Zakia were both present when this issue happened. I was told to wait as the Boss of Omega Security would soon come and sort it out with me. I waited with my family for about an hour and half until Mr. Gideon of Omega Security came and all he did was he looked at the car and talked to his watchmen. Assuring me that something positive would turn out the next day, he told me to go as it being Sunday and closing hours were approaching nothing could have been done. The most astonishing thing is that I went in the supermarket and come out in about 20 minutes time. Some one coming into the shoprite compound opening the drivers side doors and then the rest 3 doors in order to pull out the power window system and also carrying a jack from under the driver seat and yet not getting noticed by Omega watchmen. I feel it's an organized and planned theft. How can a thief know that a vitara has just parked the shoprite premises shortly? Or How can he access to get into the compound if not by the gates? How can he open the vehicle in such a short time and run away with 4 power windows and jack and not get noticed as 4 power windows and jack are bulky. I then went to Gerezani Police Post and reported a statement (reference - GPP/RB/562/08) after doing so I left for home. Mr. Gideon of Omega Security had committed on Monday 30th June 2008 to see me at 10am at shoprite kamata for sorting out the issue and compensation. I reached there at 10am but he wasn't there. After a couple of calls he told me that he would visit my office located in kariakoo at 12pm the same day. He came at 12.30 pm and he said that their company can not compensate anything of such kind to any customers. Which means that he was talking in favour of his watchman who are either negligent or are allies of the theft and know that their bosses will assist them in all mishaps. I told Mr. Gideon by doing such things you are encouraging your watchman to be more careless and maybe they know, inform and organize such theft from customer vehicles. I then took some cops with reference of My RB and went to Shoprite again whereby I met Mr. Gideon readily available to vouch for his watchmen. Just imagine such a big chain of supermarket and a multinational company having such cheap and irresponsible company as their security guards. Mr. Gideon told the cops that the watchman is on duty and shall go tomorrow to police station for answering queries. If shoprite or the ATMS located in the premises had thefts would it be the same issue or the watchmen would be arrested immediately for questioning? Or because I am merely a customer and I am fighting for my rights that's why I am facing this? The question here is not of the loss of goods worth of Tshs 200,000/-. Here the question is how one is treated in such organisations when you open your mouth to demand your rights. When I was with the cops and Mr. Gideon of Omega Security couple of other people came there and mentioned similar incidents transpired with them at the same location. And they were told the Owner park their vehicles at their own risk. One of the ladies asked "When we see your watchmen we know our vehicles are safe and secured" And she was replied by Mr. Gideon that the security guards there are for getting vehicles parked orderly and not for security of customer or customer vehicles. I am ready to volunteer and paint Shoprite walls saying "SECURITY NOT AVAILABLE FOR CUSTOMERS AND CUSTOMER VEHICLES, PARK AT YOUR OWN RISK. OUR WATCHMEN ARE FOR ASSISTING YOU IN PARKING ONLY" I will email this fact to all people that I know so that the know their rights when the shop at Shoprite Supermarkets. For Saba Saba Run. Also attached here. BB ......................... The Goldings beach house is most easily reached by crossing the harbour on the car ferry, driving almost exactly 40 kilometres south and turning left. Should the ferry be busy then you can also drive around the harbour. OK try this, and follow on the attached map. If the ferry queue is too long (too many cars or only one fery running ?) then get out of the queue and head forward onto the waterfront around the harbour (don't turn around - it's a one way street). Go straight past the Zanzibar ferry pier and keep on the main road ahead. You will come to a roundabout at which you turn left. Cross two sets of railway tracks and BP fuel on the right before reaching another (new) roundabout. Turn RIGHT (yes right, on the way to Kilwa). You will cross Mandela Road near the National Stadium (keep going) and run into road works (keep going). The Saba Saba show will be on the left (keep going) until you reach the daladala nightmare at Mbagali (keep going). Cross a river and three speed bumps before turning LEFT onto a tarred road when a large blue roof appears ahead of you (before you reach the roof). This road now winds around until rejoining the road south from the car ferry near Kipepeo, at which 'T' junction you turn RIGHT. You have rejoined the preferred road and can relax for about 30 km. Cross a river and pass through Kimbeji village. Cross another river and through another village. Cross a third river and see the Tanzanian Peoples Defence Force (TPDF) on the right. At a large mango tree there should be a HHH sign attached to a tree directing you to turn LEFT. Follow the HHH signs. See attached sketch map and GPS generated track for visual assistance. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... She is not leaving 'early' - it will take time to cross the ferry, drive south, pitch tents etc. The hash starts with the main run at 4pm sharp from the beach. WetDream promises a gentle 2 hour escapade with a beer stop for both runners and walkers, followed by a circle. Evening pig roast will be about 7pm around a bonfire on the beach (and all tucked up / lights out by 8pm ?? SOUNDS LIKE, SOUNDS LIKE ...) Monday morning is a light tea / coffee / fruit wake up and a 9am start for the hair of the dog run. Back in time for a full brunch at 11am. Also remember that you need your own tent, sleeoing bag, chair(s), lanterns, loo rolls, first aid kit, torch, mossie repellent etc etc (or have made prior arrangements with Woody and WlidThings). All being well there should be basic toilets and showers set up for us. Swimming from the beach can be very dangerous due to waves and tide rips so please do not swim alone, but at low tide there is a nice snorkelling patch if the weather and tides cooperate.Apparently there will also be some kite surfing going on off the beach! It was worth finding though; a quiet (?) shady spot with a view out over a stunningly beautiful beach towards Indonesia (well thats what Squirrel told me and he should know - having crossed that ocean under sail). It was a good run - and so it should have been with four of the most experienced of Dar hashers setting it. The tall grass made things awkward for the more vertically-challenged Hashers, not to mention SlappA (oh, sorry, I just did). The beer stop at the lighthouse was positively life enhancing and then we ran / strolled back along the beach. Wonderful. The Circle was a bit of a down downer after such a great run, but the following caused little titters (no, not Panty Pockets or Nutcracker) to ripple round the thong: * Mother Immoral declaring that she would have to use the wide-angle setting on her camera to get a photo of SlappA * Candyman insisting that his T-shirt is "cerise" not pink * My Little Disaster (ex M L Pony) * Bumtitty wearing cute pink CROCS * Boxer wearing green wellies - which were duly christened in the time-honoured manner * the bashfulness of the assorted Virgins, including Alex, Barney, Simon, Ricardo, and the lovely Mette from Norway * Boogie Boobs joining SlappA in her T-shirt in order to warm herself up ?? * Hoity Toity people (notably CampBed and S & S) who camped upwind of the hoi polloi - and got their come-uppance The Hashit went to My Little Disaster for his truly appalling performance the night before (according to Hannah, who should know). As a memento of his appallingness he was given a cross-eyed wooden phallus which he can hold in perpetuity. The Circle ended with a song. **************************************************************************** Run No. 1265 7 July 2008 Venue: Wet Dream and BB's beach hideaway, Kimbichi Hares: Wet Dream, Squirrel, and Klingon The hare of the dog run burst into life (?) at the crack of 9.30. Runners were thin on the ground, but a few stalwart Zambians joined in despite having just endured half of a lifetime on the slow train from Kapiri Mposhi. Father Abraham put in a welcome appearance at one point. Wet Dream was chick-teasing while running, and SlappA (who had already suffered plenty of abuse from other people) declaimed angrily "The crap that I have to take from the GM!!" At one point we were told by the Hares to make sure that we ran on new paper not yesterdays. Another great finish along the beach. Wet Dream introduced the Zambian's Hash Master - Aged Lothario - and handed over to our RA. He brought in those two well-known Metrosexuals - Alex and Barney - for having sex on the Hash (Barney was caught naked in a compromising position with a musical instrument). Morocco got a down down for screaming in the night, as did Aged Lothario for losing his wife no less than three times. Then there was Marabou who urinated in Singapore's tent, and Buju who was surprised to find that the sea is salty. We were treated to a very impressive demonstration of SQUITTING. Not to be outdone, Begging for It also squitted for us (where and why do girls learn these tricks? - and what other dirty tricks may they be capable of?). Aged Lothario baptised two of his flock: Sheila became Bin Breeding and Marion became Viagra. And on our side Hannah becomes Saddlesore. The Hashit went three ways: to My Little Pony - for being My Little Pony basically; Candyman for not being properly dressed, and Morocco for being too loud even for the Hash. It pains me to have to praise the GM, but he and his motley crew must be given top marks for organising a cracking Hash weekend. The tall grass made things awkward for the more vertically-challenged Hashers, not to mention SlappA (oh, sorry, I just did). The beer stop at the lighthouse was positively life enhancing and then we ran / strolled back along the beach. Wonderful. The Circle was a bit of a down downer after such a great run, but the following caused little titters (no, not Panty Pockets or Nutcracker) to ripple round the thong: Mother Immoral declaring that she would have to use the wide-angle setting on her camera to get a photo of SlappA Candyman insisting that his T-shirt is "cerise" not pink My Little Disaster (ex M L Pony) Bumtitty wearing cute pink CROCS Boxer wearing green wellies - which were duly christened in the time-honoured manner the bashfulness of the assorted Virgins, including Alex, Barney, Simon, Ricardo, and the lovely Mette from Norway Boogie Boobs joining SlappA in her T-shirt in order to warm herself up ?? Hoity Toity people (notably CampBed and S & S) who camped upwind of the hoi polloi - and got their come-uppance The Hashit went to My Little Disaster for his truly appalling performance the night before (according to Hannah, who should know). The only jarring note was the horning - all that is needed is a couple of blasts when the on on is called (like wot Tiny gives us) but Tiny had relinquished the horn to Rent Boy who gave us soaring glissandos, and arpeggios punctuated with florid curlicues. Completely over the top in my opinion. We are a fairly laid-back bunch on the Hash but when a Virgin took a leak at the first check the Harriettes didn't know whether to look away politely or check out the source more closely. Wet Dream's announcement that he wouldn't be around for the next few weeks was met with great jubilation, but even more excitement was generated by RentBoy's open invitation to come round and drink his beer and trash his place this Friday. It is a birthday and premature leaving party, so Hashy Birthday was sung. The GM brought HorniGoat into the Circle for a down down - she had unwisely mentioned to him that she had spent all Saturday squeezing balls. Close Encounters, who now has the confidence to run the Hash outwith the protective embrace (aka lecherous gropings) of the GM, declared the run as "complete pants" - which meant something in 1995. Sajjad thought the walk was great - he has just got married, so he was asked to choose three more wives in case he has still has the energy - these were S&S, Nutcracker and BeachBalls (!?). Bastille Day was celebrated by the singing of "ou est le papier" to the tune of the Frog national anthem. Spit and Swallow was the Guest RA, and she did a fine job of persuading the Virgins to tell us their favourite sexual positions. Newcomers included CokoKebab, Shake'nSpurt, Kabul and Norah from North Carolina. KnightRider, Frozen Scrotum and Mark were down downed for having the temerity to lean on the beer truck. Hashers voted unanimously for BagoBones getting the Hashit as punishment for some very trivial misdemeanours - the tyranny of the mob triumphing once again over clear-sighted, mature judgement. The hash served up by Friar Tuck was a cut above the usual. Loved your balls HorniGoat - must've have eight about ate. There was a good turnout, and that is without counting the hoards of watoto kidogo who joined us for much of the run. They also participated fully in the hymn to Father Abraham. Taking our social responsibilities seriously we shepherded the watoto safely across the main road and then immediately back again. All very heart-warming stuff I'm sure. It was getting dark by the time we came off the beach and fell on the beer truck with parched throats. The Grand Master came amongst us in the human form of Candyman, who was less pinkish than usual. He lavished praise on Friar Tuck and Hornigoat for the munificent scrumptiousness of last weeks food, and had a kind word for My Little Pony and Saddlesore for their nerdy efforts to give the Dar hash a worldwide presence - thanks to them ooooooor website will now accept photos, but only likkle ones please (max. 1" x 1"). ParknRide likes it short and slow, so she was not at all happy with the walk. The GM castigated (I think i have spelt that right) Candyblower, Rent Boy and My Little Pony for cadging a lift on the beer truck and covering him with dust as they sped by. The Bitch was congratulated for becoming a father, though I am reliably informed that his part in the whole enterprise was extremely small. CampBed was the Guest RA, and his main concern seemed to be to get all offenders, Virgins, returnees, and anyone else he could think of, into the middle for one big Down Down - forgetting that we only have so many mugs - and on this night, not much beer. Tiny Sausage nominated My Little Pony for Hashit on account of him getting his trail crossed (but technically he didn't, Tiny!) Dog's Bollocks was nominated for giving up and walking before we even got to the first check, and Rent Boy was nominated, because we always nominate Rent Boy. But the overwhelmingly popular choice for Hashit this week was Joe who was spotted doing warm-up exercises before the run started. If there is anything that the Hash is not about, if you get my drift, it is fitness, and physical well-being. The Circle ended without a song, which offended the traditionalists, but delighted the more libertarian, free-spirited wing of the Hash (aka Nutcracker). Did anyone else think Saddlesore's hash cakes tasted rather mild? - put more hash in them love next time please. On On BoB -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I'm not trying to sell a car or buy a cat. This is purely for interest ! The striped hyena sighting has caused quite a stir - first ever recorded sighting in Dar - see below. You will notice that the mammal fundis insist on spelling hyena "hyaena" (although Charles spelt it incorrectly ! Let's be generous - typo). So, if you're trying to impress people with your hyaena (!) knowledge, you now know what to do. Cheers Martin **************************************************************************** ********************************************************** Hi Martin, That's a great sighting. If you go to the mammal atlas project website 'http://www.tanzaniamammals.org/content/mammal.php?id=HY2' you'll see that neither the current nor historical data sets has any records of Striped hyeana in the Dar area - the closest is some way south. We've entered the sighting in our database so it should show up on our maps on the web within a few months. Wonder if it knew the Europub was closed. Without abusing the bird chat group to much, this is a great observation. I think that there is also an abbatoir near the Lugalo barrracks somewhere which may have attacted it. I was told that in Dodoma hyaenas are regularly seen at night coming into scavenge. And I have seen jackals running through the grass at Dar airport whilst taking off. Manybe they are more common than we think. There is aslo a possibility that is an escapee. I was driving along the Kawe Road (the main dirt road down towards the old Euro Pub after you have turned off the Old Bag Rd at the new roundabout) at about 8.30pm on Monday night (21st July) and a striped hyena walked slowly across the road in front of the car. I turned the car sideways and shone my headlights at it for a couple of minutes - I couldn't have had a better view and there was no doubting what it was. I since understand that others saw it as well on the same evening. Couldn't believe my eyes. I'd be interested to know what an expert thinks of this sighting - any similar sightings in Dar ? Thanks, Sarah When I bought a bike to replace a car that I could no longer afford to lease and run, I was worried about being run off the road by dangerous drivers, hit by carelessly opened car doors and bike handling problems in the sand and potholes. Yesterday (Sunday 27th July) I was cycling back home from Seacliff Village at around 3.30pm. I avoided the main tarmac Chole Road as previous experiences at weekends have highlighted the dangerous driving problems mentioned above, and decided to take the rough road along past Coral Beach to my house between the yacht club and slipway. I had some shopping secured to my carrier with bungy cords, and a small One-Way cotton shoulder bag containing phones, keys and purse over my neck and shoulder and hanging down by my right hip. I had earlier decided that it was safer that way as it was then less obvious to pedestrians in case they felt like grabbing it had it been on my left side. On the rough road between the ?govenerment? houses and Coral Beach a white saloon car came up behind me and followed me. As that area of the road has many concrete culverts across it and I know its quite tricky for low cars to negotiate I was annoyed at not having the road to myself but not that suprised that he didn't overtake. Once past the junction at Coral Beach however he came up fast and close - I was worried he was one of the drunken joyriders and was going to run me off the road, but as I looked round I saw the passenger leaning out of the window and then he grabbed at my bag strap. Not sure in what order the following happened but I kept hold of the bag, the car kept moving forward, I half fell off my bike, the bag strap broke, he waved a large kitchen knife out of the window (brown handle, brass studs/rivets?). Thankfully although he stopped a few metres ahead he did not reverse or get out of the car to pursue me as I was shaking far too much to resist a 2nd time. I didn't get the number plate, but do know it was a yellow plate (not a taxi white plate). Please be careful if you are out walking or on a bike. This happened in the middle of a sunny afternoon, not at night when of course we know its risky to be out of a car. These guys were out looking for victims, as normal people do not go for a Sunday afternoon drive with a large kitchen knife. They could afford a car, fuel, etc so were not desperate for their next meal. I was not walking along flashing expensive jewellry, watch or iPod. I was riding a Chinese bike as all the locals do, and may have been riding it or walking even if I had a car as it was a nice day, I had time to spare and it was good to be out in the sunshine. I don't know what the answer is, but I would hate anyone else to be scared as I was or worse, hurt. That knife could easily kill if it hit an artery, even if it was only carried to slash at a bag handle. Take care. The zebra chased the dog and my wife (in that order) quite a distance before giving up and going back to munching grass. Apparently the zebra is kept by an eccentric Indian gentleman (could it be the same Mr Paddy Patel?) and it has been known to do this on regular occasions, much to the delight of locals. Actually, it was quite good, though it was obvious that they had cheated and set it from a car. There were some tricky bits, but SlappA figured em out pretty quick - you have to get up very early to pull a fast one on SlappA. Wet Dream abandoned the run after no more than a few hundred metres, on account of his jetlag - poor wee thing. Skidmark measured his length on the ground, but fortunately he was not on the wet tar section at the time. Tiny played with his horn to great effect. Talking of Tiny things, he is setting Next weeks Hash - from the Lora International Brasserie in Mikocheni B. The GM (the real GM that is, not those pale imitations we have been getting recently) dished out trophies given to him by other Hashes. The T-shirts were popular but there wasn't much enthusiasm for the black rubber dildo so thoughtfully presented to us by ex-Dar hashers in Birmingham (well lets face it there is not much else to do in Birmingham but play with dildos). It was probably too small to interest our Harriettes, so it was presented to Rent Boy, because of the problems he has "getting it up on the beach"- he fretted about what his maid will think when she discovers it under his bed. Much scorn was poured on the RA for his supposedly first known sighting of a candy-striped hyena (after last weeks Hash at Woody's Hole). Those who would have been scared witless by seeing a hyena were called into the Circle for a down down - and these included Hornigoat, Bunny and Swooping Tiger. Returnees were welcomed - none more so than Hot Safari who has been to hell (aka Nairobi) and back recently, but is now much better. There were 5 virgins, one of whom was from the dreaded A-place, so we all got drenched. Another was Louis who said he was an alcoholic who favours the hyena position. Some thongs remained unclaimed, so the RA ordered Prince Charming (aka Rent Boy) to go round the Harriettes trying it on (so to speak) - they werent impressed. Flatulence was the deserved recipient of the Hashit for the most long-winded and boring Hashit nomination in the history of the Dar Hash. The Circle ended with a song about a chariot taking the Prophet Elijah to heaven. Hallelujah! On On BoB -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
